Global Dance - Essential P!nk 1
October 29, 2017 11:26 PM PDT
The next artist I wanted to feature in the Essentials series is P!nk. She has been a force in popular music since the start of this century and has now pretty much reached iconic status. P!nk has an uncanny ability to write songs that speak to a broad cross section of the public. She is hugely popular here in Australia with her concert tours selling out every time.

The October '17 edition of UP! is a luscious house journey with a combination of new, charting tracks and some classic tracks which have been given a new makeover. The set kicks off with Ultra Nate's classic "Free" made over by Sean Finn. 70's dance legend Sylvester has two of his hits covered by Lady Bee and Vizin. You will recognise them instantly when you hear them. The Cube Guys & Barbara Tucker remake their remake of Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"& Hernando Moldonado delivers a killer mix of Kristine W's classic "Some Lovin". I played most of these tracks at the last "Rise & Shine" day recovery party at the Midnight Shift in Sydney on October 1st. A landmark venue which sadly closed its doors after this event. Enjoy

This month's edition of UP! starts with a more progressive house feel with tracks from Ally Ryan, DJ Khaled and Joe Gauthreaux & DJ Grind. The set moves into more vocal house territory with Katy Perry's track "Swish Swish" and Taylor Swift's "Look What U Made Me Do". Esteban Lopez does a killer cover of Anastacia's classic "Left Outside Alone" ft. Alicia Nilsson & the Barry Harris remix of P!nk's "What About Us" and Russ Rich's Remix of Kesha's "Praying" are standout tracks on the September '17 edition of UP!

The August '17 edition of UP! starts off with some nice commercial house tracks in the front end and powers into some thumping club tracks in the back end. Big commercial hits such as "Came Here For Love", "Shape Of You" and "Despacito" share space with great remixes of classic tracks such as "So Emotional" by Whitney, "Alive" by Sia and "Live You All Over" by Deborah Cooper. 90's pop group Steps are making a comeback and Adam Turner turns in a stellar remix of their latest track. Tony Moran, Jack Wins, Wideboys and Toy Armada & DJ GRIND all add great remixes to August's edition of UP! Enjoy

June and July are traditionally GLBT Pride months in the northern hemisphere. So, baring that in mind, I've tailored July 2017's edition of UP! to be full of past and present Pride anthems. Dirty Disco take on Donna Summer & Barbra Streisand's massive hit "Enough Is Enough" as well as Kim English's club smash "Unspeakable Joy", which was re released in support of the victims of the Orlando massacre in 2016. Toy Armada, DJ GRIND & Joe Gauthreaux reinvent "Stand By Me" & "Love Is In The Air" and Barry Harris puts his unique spin on Lady Gaga's anthem "Born This Way". July '17's edition of UP! is filled with Pride. Enjoy

The June '17 edition of UP! has a nice mix of new & classic tracks on it blended into a smooth musical journey. Moto Blanco, StoneBridge, James Anthony, Perry Twins & Guy Scheiman mix tracks from JoAnna Michelle, URBANO, Lady Gaga, Kendra Erika & Clean Bandit. Tony Moran, Bimbo Jones & Wideboys give us mixes for some classic Nicki Richards & Inaya Day tracks. The extraordinary voice of Vanessa Amorosi is given the Wideboys treatment And the Jimmy Gomez remix of M People's "How Can I Love You More" is a pure anthem. This month's edition of UP! kicks off summer in the northern hemisphere & winter Down Under. Enjoy

The May 2017 edition of UP! is a journey through different styles of house, electro house & house anthems. The set kicks off with the 7th Heaven mix of "Where I Am" by Anja Nissen. Adam Turner nails another mix with "Crazy" by Bird. Christina Aguilera & Deborah Cox both make an appearance & Dirty Disco turn in a killer mix of "Say Yes" by Tony Moran & Jason Walker. 7th Heaven feature again on Lucie Jones' track "Never Give Up On You", a pure pop anthem. The set closes out with Lady Gaga & a great High Level mix of "Amazing" by Ratio 4:1. Something for everyone on UP! May 2017.

The 10th edition of Men has been a long time coming but I think it's worth the wait. This edition celebrating male artists has tracks from Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Nathan Sykes, Steve Grand & even the Biebs. Stand out mixes come from Tony Moran, Division 4, Danny Verde & of course, the amazing 7th Heaven to name a few. This all male testosterone hit should keep you UP! & dancing all night. Enjoy

A 19 year veteran in the Sydney club scene. Uplifting vocal house played at venues & events such as ARQ, Phoenix, Sleaze ball, G.A.Y, Toy Box & Midnight Shift are the main stay of the style I like to play.
I've been dj'ing in Sydney for around 19yrs now. I play at ARQ nightclub on a rotation and at Phoenix dayclub UP! and AFTER. My main style is vocal house but have played trance at certain parties. I've played at 3 Sleaze Ball parties for Mardi Gras as well as Toy Box & Day Wash here in Sydney. I don't use a computer program to mix music, I mix live from cd to a cd burner. A bit old school but I like the natural sound with mistakes or 'rough mixes' included. I've always made cd's for friends to listen to but have been getting so much pressure to podcast, I thought I should finally get with the program.
